Mix & Match Bundle

Best for: Pre-defined bundles where you select the exact products and customers choose their variants (size, color, etc.).

Use cases: Curated outfit bundles, matching sets (shampoo + conditioner), "complete the look" bundles.

How it works:

  1. You select the specific products that make up the bundle

  2. Customers see those products together as a set

  3. Customers choose their preferred variants (size, color, etc.)

  4. The bundle discount applies automatically

Example — "Cozy Loungewear Set": Cloud Sweater + Matching Sweatpants. Customer picks size and color for each. Save 15%.

Flexibility: Lowest — You control exactly which products are bundled. Customers only choose variants.

Pack Builder

Best for: Maximum customer flexibility with "buy more, save more" pricing tiers.

Use cases: "Build your own 6-pack" (beverages, snacks, candles), tiered pricing, subscription box customization.

How it works:

  1. You select a pool of products customers can choose from

  2. You create pack size options (3-pack, 6-pack, 12-pack) with pricing

  3. Customers pick any products from your pool to fill their pack

  4. Bigger packs = bigger savings

Example — "Build Your Pizza Box": Choose from 20 pizza varieties. 3-Pack: $36 (10% off), 6-Pack: $66 (15% off), 12-Pack: $120 (25% off).

Flexibility: Highest — Customers choose exactly which products go in their pack.

Collection Bundle

Best for: Guided, step-by-step product selection across categories.

Use cases: Meal kits (Starter → Main → Dessert), outfit builders (Top → Bottom → Shoes), gift boxes with categories.

How it works:

  1. You create steps, each linked to a Shopify collection

  2. Customers progress through each step, choosing one item per step

  3. The bundle is complete when all steps are filled

Example — "Build Your Date Night Dinner": Step 1: Starter (Appetizers) → Step 2: Main (Entrees) → Step 3: Dessert (Desserts) → Step 4: Wine. Bundle Price: $89 (Save $20).

Flexibility: Medium — Customers choose within each category, but the structure is defined by you.

All bundle types create warehouse-friendly orders — each component product appears as a separate line item with its own SKU, so your 3PL or fulfillment team can pick, pack, and ship like any regular order.

Still Not Sure?

  • "I sell matching products that go together" → Mix & Match

  • "I want customers to pick their own items from a selection" → Pack Builder

  • "Customers need to choose from different categories" → Collection Bundle

You can use multiple bundle types on the same store for different purposes.
