Creating a Pack Builder Bundle

Step-by-step guide to creating your first Pack Builder bundle.

Before You Start

Make sure you have:

  • MOD Bundles installed

  • Products you want to include in the pack

  • An idea of what pack sizes to offer

Step 1: Start a New Pack

  1. Open MOD Bundles from Shopify admin

  2. Click Create Bundle

  3. Select Pack Builder

Step 2: Enter Pack Title

Give your pack a name — this becomes the product title customers see.

Good titles: "Build Your Candle Box", "Create Your 6-Pack", "Custom Snack Box"

Step 3: Add Products

  1. Click Add Products

  2. Browse or search for products

  3. Select products and click Add

  4. Drag to reorder — first products display first

Products must be Active or Unlisted. You can't add other bundle products — bundles can't contain bundles. Customers can pick any combination, including multiples of the same product (limited only by pack size and stock).

Tip: 8-20 products is the sweet spot — enough variety without overwhelming customers.

Step 4: Set Up Pack Sizes

Pack Builder starts with a default "Pack of 3". Edit it or add more:

  1. Find the Pack Sizes section

  2. Click Add Pack Size

  3. Enter a Title (e.g., "6-Pack") and Quantity (e.g., 6)

Each size needs a unique name and quantity.

Common progressions: 3/6/12, 3/5/10, 4/8/16

Naming tips: Use clear names like "3-Pack", "6-Pack" or "Starter", "Regular", "Family Size". Avoid generic names like "Option 1".

Step 5: Set Pricing

Choose your pricing mode and set a price or discount for each pack size:

Fixed Price

Each size has a set price (e.g., 6-Pack = $54)

Percentage Off

Each size has a discount (e.g., 6-Pack = 15% off)

Each tier should offer better per-item value to incentivize larger packs.

Step 6: Create the Pack

Review your settings and click Create Pack.

MOD Bundles:

  • Creates a Shopify product for your pack

  • Creates variants for each pack size

  • Publishes to your Online Store

Step 7: Add to Your Theme

Add the Pack Builder app block to make it visible. See Adding to Your Store.

Step 8: Test

  1. Visit the pack product page

  2. Select a pack size

  3. Add products until the pack is full

  4. Add to cart and verify contents

  5. Complete a test checkout
