Discount Not Applying

You've set up a bundle with a discount, but it's not showing in the cart? Here's how to fix it.

Where Discounts Appear

First, understand where bundle discounts show:

Location

Important: The actual discount is applied via Shopify's Cart Transform at the cart and checkout stages.


Check 1: Did You Set a Discount?

Open your bundle in MOD Bundles and verify the discount settings.

For Mix & Match and Collection Bundles:

  1. Open MOD Bundles

  2. Click your bundle to edit it

  3. Look at the Pricing section

  4. Confirm you selected something other than "No discount"

For Pack Builder:

  1. Open MOD Bundles

  2. Click your pack to edit it

  3. Check the pricing mode (Fixed Price or Percentage Off)

  4. Verify each pack size has a discount or price set


Check 2: Is the Cart Transform Installed?

MOD Bundles uses Shopify's Cart Transform to apply discounts. This is installed automatically when you create your first bundle.

How to verify:

  1. Go to Settings β†’ Apps and sales channels in Shopify admin

  2. Find MOD Bundles

  3. Click it and look for Cart Transform or Functions

If Cart Transform isn't working:

  • Try creating a new bundle (this reinstalls the function)

  • Contact support for help reinstalling


Check 3: Is the Bundle Complete?

Discounts only apply when the bundle is complete:

Bundle Type

Complete When

Mix & Match

Required quantity of items added

Pack Builder

Items equal pack size

Collection Bundle

All required steps filled

Check:

  • Did the customer add enough items?

  • For Pack Builder, is the pack full?

  • For Collection Bundle, are all required steps completed?


Check 4: Are Bundle Items in the Cart?

The discount only applies to items added through the bundle interface, not items added separately.

How bundles work in cart:

  • Bundle items are grouped together

  • They have special metadata identifying them as bundle items

  • The Cart Transform recognizes them and applies the discount

If items were added separately:

  • Remove them from cart

  • Go back to the bundle product page

  • Add items through the bundle interface


Check 5: Test in Incognito Mode

Sometimes browser cache or cookies can cause issues.

  1. Open an incognito/private browser window

  2. Go to your bundle product page

  3. Add items to the bundle

  4. Add to cart

  5. Check if discount appears


Check 6: Check for Conflicting Apps

Other apps that modify the cart or checkout can sometimes conflict with MOD Bundles.

Common conflicts:

  • Other bundling apps

  • Discount apps

  • Cart drawer apps (sometimes)

  • Checkout customization apps

How to test:

  1. Temporarily disable other apps that modify cart/checkout

  2. Test your bundle

  3. Re-enable apps one by one to find the conflict


Check 7: Verify Cart Transform is Running

If you have access to browser developer tools:

  1. Open your store with the bundle in cart

  2. Open developer tools (F12)

  3. Go to the Network tab

  4. Look for requests to /cart or checkout

  5. The response should show modified prices


Discount Shows But Amount Is Wrong

If the discount is applying but the amount is incorrect:


Discount Shows on Product Page But Not Cart

The product page shows an estimate of savings. The actual discount is applied in the cart.

If cart shows no discount:

  1. Make sure items were added via the bundle (not individually)

  2. Check that the bundle is complete

  3. Verify Cart Transform is installed


Still Not Working?

If you've tried everything above:

  1. Create a test bundle:
    Make a simple 2-product bundle Set a clear discount (like 50% off) Test if that works

  2. Check Shopify status:
    Visit status.shopify.com Cart Transform issues can sometimes be Shopify-side

  3. Contact support:
    Share your bundle name and settings Describe exactly what you see vs. what you expect Include screenshots of cart if possible
