Blocks Not Appearing

Can't find the MOD Bundles app blocks in your theme customizer? Here's how to troubleshoot.

Quick Checks

Before diving deeper, verify these basics:

  • MOD Bundles app is installed and active

  • You're on a Product template (not homepage or collection)

  • Your theme supports app blocks (Online Store 2.0)

  • You're looking in the right place (Apps section in block picker)


Where to Find App Blocks

Step-by-Step Location

  1. Go to Online Store → Themes

  2. Click Edit theme on your active theme

  3. Use the dropdown at the top to select Products → Default product

  4. Click on the main Product information section in the left sidebar

  5. Click Add block

  6. Scroll to the bottom—look for Apps

  7. MOD Bundles blocks should appear under Apps

What You Should See

Under the Apps section in the block picker:

  • MOD Bundles (for Mix & Match)

  • Pack Builder (for Pack Builder)

  • Collection Bundle (for Collection Bundles)


Issue: No "Apps" Section

If you don't see an Apps section at all:

Cause 1: Not an OS 2.0 Theme

Your theme doesn't support app blocks.

How to check:

  • Is your theme older than 2021?

  • Does the theme store listing mention "Online Store 2.0"?

Solution: Upgrade to an OS 2.0 theme like Dawn (free) or any modern paid theme.

Cause 2: Wrong Template Location

App blocks can only be added to certain sections of your theme.

Try:

  1. Make sure you're on a Product template

  2. Click on the Product information section (not header/footer)

  3. Try different sections—some themes have multiple areas that accept blocks


Issue: Apps Section Exists But MOD Bundles Missing

If you see the Apps section but MOD Bundles blocks aren't there:

Cause 1: App Not Installed

Check:

  1. Go to Apps in Shopify admin

  2. Confirm MOD Bundles is listed and enabled

  3. If not, install it from the App Store

Cause 2: App Needs Refresh

Sometimes the theme editor needs a refresh to see new app blocks.

Try:

  1. Close the theme customizer

  2. Go to Apps → MOD Bundles (open the app)

  3. Return to the theme customizer

  4. Check for the blocks again

Cause 3: Theme Cache

Try:

  1. Hard refresh the theme customizer (Ctrl+Shift+R or Cmd+Shift+R)

  2. Clear browser cache

  3. Try a different browser

  4. Try an incognito window


Issue: Block Added But Not Visible on Page

If you added the block but it doesn't show on the live page:

Cause 1: Block Is Hidden

Check if the block is set to hidden:

  1. Click on the block in the sidebar

  2. Look for an eye icon or visibility toggle

  3. Make sure it's set to visible

Cause 2: Wrong Product Page

The app block shows bundle UI only on bundle products.

Check:

  1. Are you viewing a bundle product? (created through MOD Bundles)

  2. Is the product using the template with the block?

  3. Try viewing directly: yourstore.com/products/your-bundle-name

Cause 3: Theme Didn't Save

Try:

  1. Open theme customizer

  2. Make a small change (move a block)

  3. Click Save

  4. Hard refresh the storefront


Issue: Block Shows in Editor But Not Live Site

If the block appears in the customizer preview but not on your actual store:

Cause 1: Viewing Wrong Template

In the customizer, you might be editing a different template than what your product uses.

Check:

  1. Go to Products in Shopify admin

  2. Click your bundle product

  3. Note the Theme template in the sidebar

  4. Make sure that's the template you edited

Cause 2: Theme Not Published

You might be editing an unpublished theme.

Check:

  1. Go to Online Store → Themes

  2. Make sure your current theme is the one marked "Live"

  3. If you edited a different theme, publish it

Cause 3: Browser Cache

Try:

  1. Hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R or Cmd+Shift+R)

  2. Open in incognito mode

  3. Clear all browser cache


Issue: Only Some Blocks Appear

If you see some MOD Bundles blocks but not all three:

This Is Normal If...

You haven't created all bundle types yet. Each block type corresponds to bundles you've created:

  • Mix & Match Bundle block → appears when you have Mix & Match bundles

  • Pack Builder block → appears when you have Pack Builder bundles

  • Collection Bundle block → appears when you have Collection Bundles

Solution: Create a bundle of each type you want to use, then the blocks should appear.


Theme-Specific Issues

Dawn Theme

Dawn should show all blocks without issues. If not:

  • Make sure you're on the latest Dawn version

  • Try the Product information section specifically

Third-Party Themes

Some themes handle app blocks differently:

  • Check the theme's documentation for "app block" instructions

  • Contact the theme developer if blocks consistently don't appear

  • Try their support resources
